 2006 Marks our 25th Year in the
Payroll Business
In 1981, husband and wife team Marilynne and Al
Saliwanchik started Horizon
Payroll Services in a 2nd floor office at Independence Square in Centerville
Ohio.
Their first customer was Wagner Smith Co. who needed someone
to do their payroll but didn't want a big company to do it. They planted
the seed — encouraging Marilynne and Al that it could work.
"Al,
you are a software programmer. Marilynne,
you are an accountant. You
are already running a successful software business. Add on payroll services.
This can work. "

25 years and thousands of customers later, Horizon Payroll Services, Inc.,
a woman-owned company, is still locally based in Dayton but has expanded
to over 42 states as their customers have grown.
Move to Larger Headquarters in Kettering,
Ohio
In 2005, Horizon Payroll moved into a larger 5,200 square foot office in
Kettering, Ohio, just across the street from their previous location.
This
move was necessary to accommodate the increase in staff to handle their growing
customer base, which includes all types of industries (see representative
customer list) from McDonalds to doctor’s
offices to landscapers.

Marilynne Saliwanchik
President
President Marilynne Saliwanchik is a dynamic personality whose professionalism
and commitment to the payroll industry is unsurpassed.
Marilynne is an active member of the Dayton Chamber of Commerce’s mentor
program and a board member of the Independent Payroll Providers’ Association.
Alan Saliwanchik
Vice-President
 Vice President Alan Saliwanchik, a skilled information technology professional,
oversees the development staff of Horizon Payroll’s custom payroll
processing software.
Recent innovations include the integration of a “fingertip biometric
time clock” with their payroll system
for added security, greater accuracy and fraud elimination.
Customers benefited from this custom software in its flexibility to
accommodate their unique business processes – creating a huge marketing
advantage for Horizon Payroll that is true to this day.
